I am a retired broadcaster, living on Canada’s Isle of the Lotus Eaters, once described as the home of “the newly wed, and nearly dead”, or, as Elizabeth Smart recorded in 1936 “the tired and the retired”. The weather is ridiculously, unrelentingly beautiful. It darn near makes me sick! However, I take refuge in such mindless passions as: archery, small boats, desperately attempting to learn clarinet and alto recorder, ridiculously abusing classical guitar and wanging away at my gorgeous sounding K.Yairi steel string dreadnought, writing shattered prose which goes under the generic description “poetry”…Teutonic paganism….microstates…latin…the flagellating composer Percy Grainger, and Lewis Carroll, the artist Balthus, and, whatever happens to pass before me. I can be passionate about just about anything, just give me a chance.
